Last weekend seen 6 Lecale swimmers attend the first of this season’s 3 day Qualifying Meets. Aidan, Adam C, Adam M, Christopher, Philip and Rebecca all had some great swims! All swimmers went home with great PB’s and we seen a few medals as well. On Saturday Rebecca swam 4 events and got super PB’s in every one. Lecale took first and second in the 50m back with Adam C getting gold and Christopher taking silver…with some new PB’s along the way. Adam C finished the day off with a super bronze in the 50m breast. On the Sunday Christopher was back along with Aidan, Adam M and Philip. Adam M and Christopher went home with 2 new PB’s whilst Philip swam 3 events and 3 new times. Aidan was busiest, swimming 5 events, taking home 5 PB’s and a fabulous silver medal in the 50m free. Well done to all these swimmers.
Well done to all our swimmers in our last ever PTL gala against Portadown in the current pool. There were great swims all round and congratulations to Portadown who secured a strong victory in the end. Every swimmer on the PTL squad should be extremely proud of how well you all swam. Special mention must go to the D boys – swimming in the last race of the gala and the last competitive race in the pool they secured a victory.
In most events we had the opportunity to swim additional exhibition swims. These are marked with an X on the results file. These swims are invaluable in groups where we have a large number of swimmers, giving additional gala swimmers the opportunity to obtain new PB’s. These are formally recorded and are used in the selection process for future galas.
Many thanks to Portadown for a very friendly gala and we wish them the best for the rest of the season. As usual we appreciate all the help from staff at the Down LC and the many parents who helped both poolside and setting up food for our hungry swimmers after the gala.
Looking forward our next PTL Gala against Swilly Seals takes place in Letterkenny on Saturday November 3rd. A teamer message will go out closer to the time - don't forget to respond!
Saturday seen 7 Lecale swimmers travel to Omagh for the first Development Meet of the season and it did not disappoint with the club taking home a total of 12 medals. Aidan, Christopher, Cormac, Daniel, Joseph, Matilda and Orla all swam brilliantly with each and every swimmer taking home PB’s which is fabulous so early in the season. Matilda and Orla are new to these meets, not that you could tell with the great swims they had. Matilda had 2 massive PB’s taking 8 and 6 seconds off her 100m free and 100m breast entry times, and a top 10 finish in the breaststroke. Orla took a massive 10 seconds off her 100m back entry time and a fabulous bronze medal in the 50m fly, a fabulous achievement for her first meet.
The boys are more experienced at these meets with each attending last season. Daniel took huge chunks of time in each of his 3 events (100m free, back and breast), narrowly missing out on a medal position with two 4th place finishes. Cormac went home with a silver and 2 bronze medals and 2 new PBs in his 3 events (100m back, breast and 50m fly). Joseph had 2 great swims with a PB and bronze medal in the 200m IM and picking up a second bronze medal in the 100m free.
Aidan and Christopher were in exceptional form, not only picking up medals but also achieving the qualifying standards required to attend the upcoming Swim Ulster Qualifying Meet. Aidan swam 3 events with 3 big PB’s taking home 3 gold medals. Christopher too swam 3 events also with 3 big PBs and went home with 2 gold medals and a bronze medal. Well done to all our swimmers and good luck to Christopher and Aidan who will be joining Adam C, Adam M, Philip and Rebecca in the Qualifying Meet in 2 weeks’ time.

On Friday our Aqua Sprint squad competed in the Forest Feast Aqua Sprint Division 3 B final against Larne ASC. Once again our simmers swam their hearts out with many races leaving the touch judges in turmoil. A special mention must go to the boys this time – some fabulous PBs across all age groups. Unfortunately we were piped to the post obtaining silver medal position. All Aqua sprint squad members will be issued with their medals at the AGM on 29th June.
Final Score: Larne: 229: Lecale 179 - the exact score from the last time we met!!
This does mean that next year will be swimming in division 4 but retrospectively this will be a more comfortable for our fabulous swimmers.
The gala results can be found on this link:
A huge thank again to all the volunteers, and the ever-supportive parents, as without you none of this would be possible.

Saturday seen 6 Lecale swimmers in Larne competing with the best in the Antrim Championships and what a day it was!! Aoife, Charlotte, Christopher, Joseph, Olivia and Rebecca all had super races where we seen PB’s, medals and Division 2 times by these Lecale swimmers.
Charlotte has only starting attending these meets and is definitely one to watch with 3 big PB’s and 3 top 10 finishes in the 50 fly, 200 IM and 100 free. Joseph took home silver in the 50 back and narrowly missed out on 2 more medals with 4th place in the 50 fly and 200 IM. Aoife swam 2 new PB’s alongside a gold medal in 50 breast, silver in 50 free and bronze in 50 fly.
Christopher, Olivia and Rebecca not only took home podium places but also Division 2 times which means these three will be heading to Limerick in July to compete with the best in Ireland. Christopher also went home with 1 gold, 2 silver and a bronze position and a £10 cash prize for the finals of the 50 free. Olivia took home 2 silver medals and 2 bronze medals. They didn’t have medals for the over 13’s otherwise Rebecca would also have been on the podium but she went home with 4 new PB’s and of course the Division 2 times.
Well done to all the swimmers, as always they all did fantastically and did their club proud.
Last Sunday seen 5 Lecale swimmers head to Lisburn for the last of this seasons Development Meets. Aidan, Bebhionn, Christopher, Joseph and Niall with support from both Jonathan and Aaron all had a great days swimming.
Aidan went home with 2 bronze medals in the 50 fly and 100 back. Bebhionn and Christopher swam some great PB’s and also managed to achieve their streamlining assessment. This is now compulsory to progress to Qualifying Meets, so next season they will now be able to concentrate on getting these qualifying times. Joseph too had some great swims, narrowly missing out on a medal gaining a 4th place in the 50 fly. PB of the day had to go Niall, taking a massive 17.77 seconds off his 100m breast!!
Well done to all the swimmers and thanks to Jonathan and Aaron for all their help and support.
