Well done to all the swimmers who took part in the final night of our Club Championships. Great swims and PBs galore! As always huge thanks to the ranks of parents who helped on poolside and took up their timekeeping duties seamlessly.
Our final Friday of the season is taken up with our AGM and Prize Night, 7pm sharp this Friday 20th June. All welcome. We've got lots to celebrate this season - a great year for Lecale! Just ahead of the AGM, at 6.30pm, there will be a short meeting for the families involved in the Lecale Summer Camp. We have a short window of time so please arrive promptly. An expensive pair of white Speedo goggles with blue lens were lost at the pool last night during our gala. If you have found them or lifted them by mistake can you please contact us asap so they can be returned to their owner. This would be very much appreciated.
Go to the Forest Feast Aquasprints website to view fabulous photographs from the Finals!
Thank you once again to Forest Feast for making this a fun and memorable night! Whoo-hoo!! Lecale in middle column! Fab gala. Shiny silver for Lecale! Well-deserved gold to Slaibh Beag, City of Belfast bronze. Good luck to our Aquasprint Team who head to the Division 3 'A' Finals on Friday - an amazing achievement in itself!
If you are competing in the final, please be at LURGAN WAVES swimming pool for a 6.30pm warm-up. You MUST wear your Aquasprints t-shirt on the poolside and wear a Lecale hat. Bring spare goggles - parents, please check bags before swimmers leave! If you have prearranged a lift, then please be at the usual bus departing place in Downpatrick at 4.30pm. A team of sixteen Lecale swimmers headed to Bangor Aurora yesterday for the inaugural Bangor Swimming Club Long Course Meet. Competing over a total forty-one 100m and 200m events the group achieved many PBs and came away with two medals. From a strong field of swimmers from all over Ulster top ten finishes were won by:
Daniel Molloy: 2nd in 100m back, 5th in 200m back Jon Glover: 3rd in 200m free Amy Browning 4th in 200m IM and 200m free, 5th in 100m back Ruby Tindal: 4th in 100m and 200m breast Daniel Mulholland: 4th in 200m free Cara O'Neill-Campbell: 4th in 200m breast, 5th in 100m breast Amy Godfrey: 10th in both 200m free and 100m back Jamie Hamilton: 8th in 100m back Irish Division 2 qualifying times were achieved by Chloe Galloway: 100m free & 200m IM Aaron Cooper: 200m free & 200 breast Ruby Tindal: 100m & 200m breast Daniel Mulholland: 200m free Daniel Molloy: 100m & 200m back Jon Glover: 200 free Amy Godfrey and Jamie Hamilton finished just a whisker out side the Division 2 times in their events. In their first open meet Jack Teggart and Jack Martin swam brilliantly, achieved great long course times and kept the eagle-eyed stroke judges happy. Run to very tight FINA meet conditions, a good few swimmers were disqualified in the meet and unfortunately Lecale swimmers Aaron Cooper and Daniel Mulholland suffered this fate in 200m breast and 100m fly respectively. Overall it was a great day and Lecale encourages all of its gala squad swimmers to take the opportunity to compete over the longer distances offered in the open meets. The next open meet is the Swim Ulster Summer Meet in Lisburn on Saturday 21st June. Entry deadline is this Tuesday 3rd June. LECALE SUMMER CAMP 2014
