Lecale were off to a great start in the 4 x 25m mixed medley relay events, with clear wins for the U9s and U11s and, thanks to a great final leg by Heather Dunn, the Lecale U12s stole first place by 0.8S.
Lecale’s U9s were in spectacular form with Chloe Galloway sailing in to first place in all events with PBs every time. Laura Molloy swam two PBs and secured second place in back and breaststroke and third in butterfly.
U9s Fionn McConvey and Aaron Cooper comfortably took care of first and second places respectively in all their individual events, scoring maximum points for their team. Philip George took third place in backstroke.
The Lecale U10s had a tougher challenge from Olympia. Katie Lundy took second place in breaststroke and a first in back followed by eight year-old Niamh Masterson in second place. Katie took first again in freestyle just ahead of Niamh Corrigan in second place.
U10 Niamh Corrigan swam a blistering butterfly to finish in first place, knocking a fantastic 4.47S of her time. Teletots’ newcomer Laura Green swam well in all her events and finished third in butterfly.
U10 Aidan McCauley took second place in back, fly and freestyle and third in breaststroke.
Lecale U11s Megan Rodgers and Daniel Molloy took firsts in all their events with second places going to Amy Godfrey in backstroke, Aoife Masterson in breaststroke, James Mahoney fly and freestyle. Niall George secured first in breaststroke. Amy Godfrey also took third in backstroke. Sophie Boyle and David Hunt swam PBs in back and breaststroke.
Lecale U12 Oisin McConvey secured firsts in backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle and second in fly. Richard Cleave took first in fly and second in backstroke and breaststroke. Caomhan Rodgers swam well and took second in freestyle. Third places went to Jordan McClements in backstroke, Nicholas Cleave in butterfly and Heather Dunn in freestyle. Heather swam a PB and took second in breaststroke and Olivia Mooney swam PBs in fly and breaststroke.
The final events, the 4 x 25m mixed freestyle relays saw decisive wins for Lecale’s U9s, U10s and U11, with the U12s narrowly missing first place.
There were many close finishes, with frantic cheering and screaming on both sides, but in the end Lecale emerged as clear winners with 230 points to Olympia’s 170 points. Click here for full times and results.

The final Teletot League gala will be against the Mid-Ulster SC from Magherafelt on Saturday 22nd May at 5.30pm in Downpatrick Leisure Centre. Lecale’s Club Championship Gala will take place on 4th and 11th June and involves all club swimmers.
