The teams had a fast and furious 90 minutes, competing in forty events including 4 x 25m medley and freestyle relays and 25m backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle.
Lecale’s thirty-seven swimmers were in fine form taking maximum points in all the relay events, which put them in a secure position regarding final points. The team achieved thirty-five 1st places, eighteen 2nd places and twenty-three 3rd places overall.
Philip George, Sinead MacFarlane, Sophie Boyle, Jamie Hamilton, Johnny Hutton, Fergal Mooney and Nicholas Cleave were among the twenty-four swimmers who secured thirty-eight Personal Best(PB) times.
Squad newcomers Tom Rodgers, Jamie Black, Ross Morrison, Orla Martin, Alex Cromie, Orlaith Brennan, Aoibheann Cassidy, Kate McCauley and Claire Morrissey all performed well in the team events and Tom stormed to 3rd place in the U9s breaststroke, just behind Lecale’s Fionn McConvey and Aaron Cooper.
Lecale’s core team members did not disappoint with strong performances from U9s: Chloe Galloway, Laura Molloy, Niamh Masterson, Fionn McConvey, Aaron Cooper, Thomas Fitzsimons, Aidan McCauley; U10s: Katie Lundy, Lucy Cromie; U11s: Megan Rodgers, Amy Godfrey, Aoife Masterson, Olivia Mooney, Daniel Molloy, Niall George, James Mahoney, David Hunt; U12s: Heather Dunne, Laura Dagens, Oisin McConvey and Richard Cleave.
In the end the Lecale team pulled together to secure 252 points against Armagh’s 148 points. Click here for full results. March will be a busy month for Lecale ASC with meets in Ballymena on 13th March for the PTL Time Trials, an in-club gala for all members on Friday 19th March and then away to Monaghan on 27th March for the next Teletots meet against Slaibh Beag SC.
