The morning session saw our youngest swimmers in action. Aoife, Daisy and Matilda were up bright and early and in fine form. Daisy was swimming in her first open meet and took it all in her stride. She went home with great 2 great PBs in the 25m breast and 100 IM, taking over 15 seconds off her entry time in the IM. As a 10 year old Matilda was swimming in a very competitive age group with a large number of swimmers. She had 2 great swims in the 25m free and 100m IM, going home with a super PB in the free. Aoife swam 3 events in the morning as a 9 year old and then stayed to compete in 2 more events the 10 and under category in the afternoon session. She went home with 5 top 10 finishes, 3 PBs (including 17 seconds off her IM entry time) and a super silver medal in the 50m back.
She was joined in the afternoon session by Aidan, Bebhionn, Christopher, Corey, Joseph and Olivia. Joseph competed in 4 events with a top 10 finish in each event and taking home big PBs in all 4 events (including a massive 16 seconds off his 100m back). Corey competed in three 50m events. He too went home with 3 top 10 finishes and big PBs, including an 11 second PB in the 50m breaststroke. Aidan went home with 2 great PBs in the 100 free and 100 back, and a fantastic bronze medal in the back. Bebhionn swam in 5 events taking home 4 PBs, taking 9 seconds off her 100 fly and narrowly missing out on medal. Nevertheless she had a great swim in the 50m fly and a fantastic gold medal. Christopher too swam 5 events, with 3 new PBs including the 100m fly and a fabulous silver in the 50m breast. Olivia finished off the day 4 events, 4 big PBs including a Division 2 time, a fabulous silver medal in her 200 IM and a super bronze in the 100m back.
Many thanks for Jonathan who was there all day to give helpful advice to all the swimmers. He was joined by Aaron and Jamie who were a great help especially with the younger swimmers, ensuring they were at all in the right place at the right time. Overall it was a fantastic showing from all these Lecale swimmers. They were all seen poolside cheering each other on and showing great team spirit, which was wonderful to see.
