Cara, Emma and Amy were selected to represent the South of Ulster squad at Saturday night's PTL Finals in Ballymena. This was an exciting meet - North versus South - with some of the very best PTL swimmers in action. Competing in two events each, the Lecale trio had a great performance and picked up three medals: a silver for Emma in fly and bronzes each for Cara and Amy in freestyle. Well done girls!

Great results for Leclae against Ballymoney SC last Saturday night. Well done to all swimmers for both clubs. Click here of results.
Lecale had a record 14 swimmers participating in this year's Antrim Championships, swum over two days in two separate venues, Lisburn and Larne. Congratulations to all swimmers for their hard work and strong performances over both days - you really did yourselves proud.
Amy B notched up two big PBs in 100 back and 100 free and was rewarded for her efforts with two medals, silver (back) and bronze (free). Daniel Mulholland was also on the podium with a bronze in 400 free in a fantastic Irish Age Group Division 1 time of 5.12.12. Meanwhile, in the last event of the weekend, Daniel Molloy pocketed a well earned bronze in the 200 back. Other impressive PBs were secured by Cara (200 IM), Laura (100 and 200 breast), Jamie (100 free and 100 back), Aaron (50 free) and Megan (200 free). Tom, Aidan and Philip all had great swims too. Isla put in a particularly impressive performance, with big PB improvements in 200 free, 100 and 200 breast and 200 IM. She also secured Division 2 times in 100 breast and 200 IM and is less than half a second off a Div 2 time in 200 breast. Amy G also achieved a Div 2 time thanks to a 7 second improvement in her 200 free and, with a further PB in 100 free, is just 0.12 of a second outside the qualification time for that event. Meanwhile, Chloe further improved her existing Div 2 time in 400 free while Daniel Molloy likewise improved his existing Div 2 time in 200 back. Both Daniel and Chloe also swam great 200 IM events, both finishing just outside their PBs. So an exhausting but exciting weekend - and it looks as if we will have our strongest ever showing at this year's Irish Age Group Division 2 championships in Limerick at the end of June. Click here for updated information on all Lecale qualifiers. The swimmers would like to say a huge thank you to their coaches and teachers for their support and encouragement throughout the year. Lecale had an excellent showing at the Ulster Age Group and Youth Championships in Bangor Aurora over the weekend of 27th-29th March. Last year three Lecale swimmers had achieved the qualifying standards but this year we had eight swimmers eligible in numerous events - Chloe, Megan, Adam Daniel, Aaron, Jamie, Daniel and Conor. Our youngest swimmer Adam Colgan finished an excellent 'first reserve' for the 100 backstroke finals with a time of 1:28.12L, confirming his Irish Division 2 time. Megan had a great swim in her 200m breaststroke event in which she made the finals and further improved her Div 2 time, finishing in 8th place overall. Chloe took another 3.39secs off her 400 freestyle time but was a little outside her PB in 100 back and 200 IM. Day 3 saw Chloe tackle the 400 IM (a nemesis for nearly all swimmers!) and set an impressive time of 6:24.68L. In all Chloe achieved four Div 2 times. Aaron had mixed fortunes; a minor infringement meant disqualification in the 200 IM but he made up for this when he achieved an Irish Division 1 time in his 100m free. Jamie and Daniel were a little outside their best in the 100 fly and 200 back respectively, however Daniel was back on form of the 100 back, just 2secs off the Irish Division 1 standard. Daniel Mulholland was on top form; along with achieving Div 2 times in 100 back and breast and 400 IM Daniel scooped three golds in the 100, 200 and 1500 freestyle events and silver in the 400 freestyle. Daniel adds these Ulster titles to his Ulster 800m freestyle record, set earlier in the year. Daniel has also achieved two Division 1 times in his 200 and 1500 freestyle, which qualifies him for the Irish Age Group Championships in the NAC this summer. In all a long weekend but an excellent meet for Lecale; lots of good times, excellent technique and lessons learned from competing against Ulster's best. Well done to all swimmers and thank you to the parents who helped with timekeeping. Photo to follow. Lecale results here. On Sunday 22nd March seniors swimmers, Amy and Daniel, took part in the Leinster LC Open Championships in the NAC in Dublin. Results to follow.
Cara, Amy and Emma competed in the PTL time trials in Newry on 21st March, the final swim in the old pool. The girls respresented Lecale very well and all achieved top three placings. Lecale results are here and full results can be viewed here.
