Development Meet in Larne. It was a long day of competition involving hundreds
of swimmers from throughout Ulster.
Lecale swimmers Orlaith Devlin, Amy Godfrey, Laura Molloy and Daniel Molloy
took part in events including 400m freestyle, 50m breast, 100m back, 200m
individual medley, 50m free and 100m individual medley.
All swimmers swam well and achieved PBs in their events. Ten year old Laura
Molloy finished 18th in 50m breaststroke and 20th in 50m freestyle in a large
field of 10-11 year olds. Orlaith Devlin swam 6:58.70 in the 400m freestyle,
finishing a good half a length ahead of all others in her heat and finished in
8th place overall. Orlaith went on to finish 7th in the 200m IM.
Amy Godfrey achieved an A grade time of 1:30.25 in the 100m back and later
1:34.48 in the 100m IM. She finished in 4th place in both events, missing out on medals by just a fraction of a second. Daniel Molloy finished 6th in the 50m
breaststroke, 14th in 400m freestyle(6:28.48) and 19th in 100m back (1:39.15).
Daniel kept the best for last though and in the final heat of the 50m free he
swam 35.50S and finished with a well-earned silver medal.
Lecale's next meet is at home against former PTL division 1 club, Lurgan, on
Saturday 10th December.
