Megan Rodgers and Amy Godfrey performed well in both disciplines in the 10-11Girls longer race. Megan swam her 200m in 3m07s, achieving an ‘A’ Grade time. Amy finished 2nd in the 1200m run, completing it in 4m44s. Overall Megan finished in 4th place in 8m03s and Amy finished in 5th place in 8m24s. Bethany Williamson finished 5th in the 12-13Girls long race in 7m46s.
The Lecale boys managed to push through and finish in the medals - Daniel Molloy finished 3rd overall in the 10-11Boys, swimming 200m in 3m07s and running 1200m in 4m35s. Rory McMullan and Ryan Starkey kept Lecale in the prizes, taking care of 1st and 2nd place in the 14-15Boys race. Both boys were very close in the running, finishing only a second apart, but Rory’s 200m swim in 2m40s safely secured him first place.
In the end everyone was a winner, leaving with their competitor’s medal, goody-bag, t-shirt and swim cap. Lecale would like to thank Olympia Triathlon Club for a great day out. The Kids’ Aquathon raises funds for the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children and is supported by Belfast City Council, Triathlon Ireland and The Pioneer Group. The event is open to anyone with an interest in swimming or running, you do not need to be associated with a club. OTC hope to arrange similar events later in the summer.
