Captained by David Hunt and Ellen Murphy, the Lecale team got off to a great start taking firsts in the medley relays in all year groups. The U9s B team (Anna Pentland, Joshua Hanlon, Daniel Mulholland & Claire Morrissey) swam well and managed to secure 2nd place ahead of Kikeel. The U11 teams were very closely matched in the relay but Lecale anchor Katie Lundy managed to close the gap to pip Kikeel anchor Jessica Newell at the finish.
Lecale went on to swim well throughout the individual events and finished the meet by storming to first place in all freestyle relays. Lecale’s U9 B team and U10 B team (Thomas Fitzsimons, Orlaith Brennan, Niamh Masterson) finished in 2nd place ahead of Kikeel’s A team. Lecale’s youngest member, six year old Mark Molloy had his first Aquasprint experience when he stepped up to fill a gap in the U9 C team which finished in 4th place
The points at the end were Lecale 249 to Kikeel 151. Full Lecale times can be viewed here. Lecale ASC would like to thank Kikeel SC for a close meet and look forward to swimming against them again. Thank you to the volunteers from both clubs who helped run the event and to the parents for providing refreshments.
Lecale’s final Forest Feast Aquasprint meet is in Downpatrick on Saturday 7th May against Armagh SC.
